Trawling through the news, one positive article caught my eye. Food labelling. It is once again in the headlines with a new front-of-pack design to be implemented in the UK in the next 18 months. This voluntary choice has Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, The Co-operative, Waitrose, Mars, Nestle, PepsiCo and Premier Foods in favour of the new system whilst Coca-Cola and Cadbury feel that the use of the Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA) is a better system. Although there are pro and cons to the new labelling after a long decade of debate, as a consumer, I am for the bigger, more upfront labels.
Last year my boss , Sandra Jones Sickels (http://linkd.in/15WhY8s) from The Haworth Press, New York, came to visit me in London. I haven’t seen her since the 80’s! I didn’t think she remembered me but I was delighted when she called. My mind was whirling, ‘where do I take someone special who has seen and done everything’? My husband recommended London Walks (http://www.walks.com/) and I thought that was a brilliant idea. We had a lot of fun and I hope I have remained in her good books!
